The third count from the Garfield County election office shows that 6B, the ballot measure to preserve library funding, garnered 13,968 votes -- more than twice as many as the votes against it.
Not only that, more people voted for the library than voted for or against any other candidate or issue on the ballot. What a profound statement of support for a beloved institution!
Thanks are in order:
To the remarkable service-oriented staff of the Garfield County Public Library District
To the board that voted unanimously to support the ballot measure
To Protect Our Garco Libraries, which has gathered so many signatures of support
To the many people who made videos in support of the campaign, or wrote letters to the editor, or handed out campaign information, or donated.
To the campaign committee:
Jocelyn Durrance, Chair
Carole O’Brien, Campaign Agent
Kevin O’Brien, Treasurer
Ellen Dole
Jamie LaRue
Sharon Morris
Laurie Raymond
Jamie Tredeaux
And of course to the citizens of Garfield County, who just wanted to keep their libraries strong, and showed up to make it happen!
THANK YOU!
