POGL Updates for October, 2026

October 8, 2026

As you know, the Maintain Our Garfield County Libraries local political issue committee is seeking to extend the library’s 1 mill levy. If it expires, the library will lose over $1,000,000 annually. Our ballots will be arriving this week, so we wanted to give an update on their efforts. We’d also like to ask for some help.

  • The committee has raised over $15,000 in contributions from our community. That’s love! Thank you.

  • The biggest chunk of money is going to postcards, which should hit about 10,000 houses next week. (We’re targeting frequent voters in our six municipalities.) In addition to a simple reminder to vote for 6B (the very last issue on the ballot), we also list some of the people and organizations who have endorsed the campaign. It’s an impressive list across the political and social continuum. Libraries serve everyone.

  • Our next expenditure is social media. Check out these videos and messages:

Like and share!

Thanks to those who recorded videos. These make for great social media posts.

  • We have also purchased a small number of campaign signs, and are still seeking people at high traffic locations willing to post one in their yard.

  • We have printed up bookmarks, flyers, stickers, and buttons as handouts. An easy way to support the campaign in these last few weeks is to stand outside your local library at peak times (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 1-5 p.m.) and pass things along.

  • To request any of this campaign material, contact Jamie LaRue at jlarue@jlarue.com.

For more information about the issue see the home page: www.maintaingarcolibraries.org.

Again, thank you for your outpouring of support for a beloved institution that needs our help, just as it has helped so many of us over the years.
